yup, thats looking right on the mark for ~3.2 seconds to 60. most of that is from 0-40, man that speed tapers off fast after 70

Well, i think that's the gearing. I wonder what if they made the Model S with a Gearbox like Formula E cars.

I remember that was the plan with the roadster, a two speed trans, but they could never make it work and so it was scrapped. Doesn't seem like it would be hard to do a 3 speed planetary that could handle to torque...but what do i know? The other thing could be that the efficiency gains weren't there, since you increase losses to friction that may not have decreased consumption enough to make it worth while.

It was. I read somewhere on the internet that because the Model S was geared to focus on 0-60, since they only had top speed of 130.

But still, that acceleration when it pulls from 0-40 looks really savage.
